I have over 24 years of accounting and tax experience in both public and private practice, and was a co-owner of Creative Inspiration Journey School in Winter Springs, FL. We recently sold our preschool there to dedicate our time solely to the St. Cloud location.  I am married, and the proud mother of one son. My family recently moved to Florida from Ohio. I love to travel, and like to think of myself as native to more than one state: Florida, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio and Texas. Due to the incredible opportunity that presented itself with my husband’s employer, we lived abroad for two years in Singapore. During that time, my family had the unforgettable experience of visiting neighboring countries and making life-long friends.

After graduating from college, I began my career working for a CPA firm located in San Antonio, TX, preparing corporate and individual income tax returns.  I then switched from public to private practice, spending most of my career working in the accounting and finance department of Cognis Corporation, an international manufacturing company based in Cincinnati, Ohio. During my time at Cognis, I held positions as, Fixed Asset Manager, Financial Planning Analyst, Assistant Treasurer, and Manager of General Accounting, Fixed Assets and Treasury. My responsibilities included (but were not limited to: tracking capital project spending, asset identification and depreciation, sales and property tax reporting, tax audit defense, asset risk management, account reconciliations, cash management and forecasting, financial budgeting and analysis, and financial statement preparations.

While living abroad in Singapore, I held an executive office position as Treasurer on the Stamford American International School PTA. The association’s goals were to support and promote the school’s philosophy of guiding the students to become responsible, contributing citizens, not only within the school environment, but also on a local, national and global level. The PTA organized events that allowed new and returning families the opportunity to become engaged within their school and local communities. To create a caring and inclusive environment, some of the events opened an hour early only for families with special need students. This allowed those that would normally not participate in large scale activities due to their child’s sensory, social or physical disabilities, the opportunity to partake in school functions. To help foster the school’s focus on local, national and global involvement, the PTA organized an annual charity gala dinner dance to raise funds for the Cambodia Hope School. Funds raised from the gala were used to build the school and provided annual maintenance, school supplies and meals for the students that attended. In addition, the students, at each grade level, held on-site or local fundraisers to support their grade level’s charity of choice.

Upon returning from living abroad, in 2014, I became the co-owner and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Creative Inspiration Journey School in Winter Springs, FL. I managed all aspects of purchasing procurement, accounts payable, cash management, T&E expenses, property risk management/insurance, payroll, workers compensation, income tax preparation, reporting and compliance, budgeting and analysis, account reconciliations and financial reporting.

I am very excited about my next adventure here in St. Cloud.   I look forward to working with the parents, students and staff within the community.
